Difficulty - Moderate
This will be a relatively flat hike compared to other urban ranger experiences, but we’re going to cover a large area and walk at a fast pace. Some places will have minimal tree coverage, so weather such as rain, wind, and sun may also be intense depending on the forecast.
Terrain & Landscape
Sidewalks, Parking Lots, Alleys, Pedestrian Paths
The hike features the West End neighborhood, including a few renowned historic districts, places we have lost to urban renewal, and the Laurel Homes area.
Please Note: This is not a walking tour of the West End. Your guide will introduce these places to you as we walk through them to help tell a story, but this is a hike and should not be considered a historic walking tour.
Trailhead and Route: We will start promptly at 10:00 am from Deeper Roots on W 4th Street. Together we’ll trek over and under I-75 and walk through Queensgate, and the West End. This hike is a loop, and we will end back where we started.
