Difficulty - Easy to Moderate
This hike has a flat terrain. We’ll walk on sidewalks, parking lots, pedestrian paths, and grass.
The hike features three communities: Wyoming, Lockland, and Reading.
Trailhead and Route: First, we will wander the streets of the pleasant bedroom community of Wyoming. Then walk across the tracks to Lockland, which has been challenged by a decline of its industry and economic hub. After that, we will jaunt over Mill Creek to Reading into the heart of the Benson Street bridal district. And finally, backtrack to the beginning to create a loop.
The three very different yet entangled neighboring communities have been separated by obstacles over time… some natural… some designed… and we’ll be noting the significant barriers and geography during the route.
The hike will be about 5.6 miles and last approximately 2.5 hours. It will be a mostly flat route. Dogs are welcome.
Please Note: This is not a history walking tour of Wyoming, Lockland, and Reading. When hiking, your guide will point out some landmarks and overall themes, but he’s not well-versed in detailed local history. We welcome questions and encourage conversations about places. So feel free to share anything you may know with the group.
